We've been enjoying these backyard beauties...

This Red Bellied Woodpecker was the first to find our bird feeder, and he is very territorial of it! He fends off all the other birds while he is dining. According to one website, this is a fairly rare sighting, so it makes me happy that this guy is a regular at our house!

Feisty little guy - but you will surrender!

Jackpot!

Cardinals abound!

This is a male House Finch....(took some Googling to identify)

Of course, there are lots of doves....

There are TONS of rabbits in our neighborhood. They are pretty brave and will stand in the yard even when I go out on the back porch early in the mornings (it helps that I'm tossing "wildlife feed" at them).

We don't have as many squirrels as I would imagine - no big trees in our back yard. But, we do have a few that visit.

This poor soul is tail-less.

And, finally, the elusive Blue Jay. These birds are SO skittish! It took heaps of patience and determination to finally get a few decent shots of them. Worth the wait, I would say.

Most of the shots were blurs like this, but I actually like this one a lot.

We just put up a hummingbird feeder in place of or finch feeder. It wasn't getting any action. I probably don't know something important about placing finch feeders. Oh, well - we'll see if we have more luck with the hummingbirds. Fingers crossed....
