A little late on the Thanksgiving blog. I'll be doing this as briefly as possible - Holiday projects are piling up!!!!
We headed down to Fulshear (near Houston) to stay with Kenny's parents, Grandma Sheila & PapaNui. Kenny's sister, Aunt Kara, was also there as well as Sheila's siblings and their families. It made for a nice big group!
We were so glad to see everyone this year, since we skipped the Thanksgiving gathering last year. Mira was only a week or two old, and we weren't ready to fly to Virginia with her at that point!
Kara and I made Great Grandma Cassie's Apple Pie. Okay, so we used store-bought crust...
But, it turned out beautiful and oh, so delicious!!! I think I ate half of it myself!!!!
Jim/PapaNui carves the holiday bird. Unfortunately (or fortunately??), I didn't get a picture of the traditional turkey dance before it was thrown into the oven - it's not a pretty sight. Funny, but not pretty.
Mmmmm.....stuffing balls. These are about to go into the oven and will come out all golden and crispy!!
Let the feasting begin!!
Rene' shows Mira all the pictures on her camera...Mira is always up for looking at pictures, especially if they are of her!
Sitting with Cousin Heather. We love Heather; she's a hoot (and a holler)!
Typical Texas Thanksgiving...hanging out by the pool in the sunshine after stuffing ourselves.
Cousin Sara & Uncle Mike
PapaNui and "The Conch" - I think he's trying to start a new tradition here...
PapaNui calling "Cinco de Bingo" - we were going for a "Texas Western" themed Thanksgiving this year. Thus....
...the horse ranch. This is as close as Kenny got. He sort of has equinophobia.
Mira and I saying "hi" to the pony.
Aunt Kara and Mira found a great tire swing - they both seemed to enjoy the ride!
Cousin Sara gets ready to mount up!
Addis heads off with his trusty steed.
Uncle Mike and his crazy horse - look, I think it's trying to bite him in this picture! This was a very disgruntled horse...maybe that should have been taken as a sign of things to come??
PapaNui and Mira keep their spurs on the ground.
Just thought this was a great shot!
Grandma Sheila and Mira
The horse ranch also had peacocks! So beautiful!
So, what did come of the horse riding adventure?? A few of the horses got spooked by something in the brush, and Uncle Mike and Kathleen both got bucked off their crazed horses!! How's that for a real "Texas Western" Thanksgiving?!?
Back at the house...
Aunt Kara got her some coffee and is all wound up now!!
Pretty girl enjoying the sheep skin rug - so soft!!
I just like this picture - the lighting was great. Mira was having fun being a big girl in the big chair all by herself.
Taking a break in the big chair.
After Thanksgiving, the three of us plus Aunt Kara drove up to Arlington to the Cowboys Stadium and watched Baylor University play Texas Tech University. We tailgated with Matthew & Casey (green specks in a sea of red) for a little bit before heading into the stadium.
Holding Aunt Kara's and Daddy's hands - sometimes they need a little help when they are walking.
WOW!! This place is BIG!! Like father, like daughter??
Girls in Gold!!!
The megatron was so distracting, we would watch it and forget to watch the actual game! Sometimes we missed parts of the game because we were watching replays on the screen!
She looks very intimidating, doesn't she?
We expected a slaughter, but Baylor actually did pretty good and got beat by only one touchdown!!
